Volunteer

Volunteers are CRITICAL to the operation of the Affton Christian Food Pantry! The ACFP is looking for people to help with the following volunteer opportunities:

Cardboard Hauling: Cardboard accumulates very quickly at the Pantry, and needs to be hauled to the nearby recycling center once per week. A volunteer for this position would ideally have access to a pick-up truck, small trailer, or cargo van. Time Commitment: 1-3 hours per week. If a weekly commitment is too much, the person may volunteer biweekly or monthly, generally taking the same week(s) per month (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th week of each month).

Pantry Cleaning: St. George Parish does have a cleaning service, but the Pantry itself benefits from a light cleaning each week: dusting shelves, checking for expired goods, sweeping, etc… Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week.

On-Call Lifters: Donated boxes of food can get HEAVY. The Pantry is in desperate need of able-bodied men and women that can repeatedly lift boxes weighing 20-40lbs. Often, the Pantry has very little advance notice of large-scale donations and deliveries, so volunteers for this position would ideally be willing to be contacted on an as-needed basis. Volunteers can also schedule to be available for serving the Pantry on a specific day of the month, such as the 2nd Tuesday or the 4th Saturday, if that would work better for that individual’s schedule.

If you are interested in volunteering, please send us an email with your name, phone number and area of interest through our Contact page.

Thank you in advance for considering being a part of the ACFP mission!
